Curlin Up for Jockey Club Gold Cup
Curlin will be racing at Belmont Park on the 27th trying to make
history. If he places he will be on top of the all time money earning
horse in history surpassing Cigar. If he wins, he will be the first
horse to surpass $10 million in earnings.

New NYRA Created and Finalized
NYRA officially emerged out of Bankruptcy, land formally transferred
to the State, back taxes and debt all paid off. NYRA promised a $30
million backstretch dormitory at the Belmont Park and return to the
improving racing state wide and internationally. The 25 year agreement
between NYRA and New York State was finalized on Friday. Read more via

Belmont Barn Quarantine
Barn 38 at Belmont Park was quarantined on Saturday after Smell My
Carrots, a three-year-old A. P Jet gelding, was euthanized after being
found with a fever and unable to stand in his stall on the Belmont
Park backstretch. Equine herpesvirus (EHV-1) has been listed as a
possible cause of the horse's illness.

After consultation with the New York State Department of Health,
the Nassau County Department of Public Works will begin aerial and
ground spraying in parts of Nassau County to help control mosquitoes

Adoption Fair

to announce that the town's annual Pet Adoption
Fair and Rabies Vaccination Program will take

Buffalo Casino Plan Stopped
Work has stopped for now at the site of the
future Seneca Creek Casino in Buffalo. The tribe
already pouring 46 million into the project. The
plans are mammoth. A hotel and casino worth more
than 300-million dollars. The Indian Nation says
the poor economy forced them to put the project
on hold, but making matters worse, a lawsuit
from Citizens For a Better Buffalo that has won
round one in court.

Yonkers Malfunction Being Investigated
The Raceway and The Journal News also
received complaints that participants in the
contest had been unable to register their
promotion cards to participate in the giveaways.
Since many individuals despite playing for hours
and some for days were not able to register,
State Lottery officials are investigating the
manner due to possible wrongdoings and promotion
violations.

Workers on Track Underpaid
An investigation into alleged underpayment
of New York backstretch workers has shifted
downstate to Belmont Park whose autumn meet
begins Friday. The New York Labor Department
announced last week that more than 1,200
lower-income Saratoga Race Course workers, such
as grooms and hot walkers, were underpaid,
overworked, and living in unfit conditions
during the track’s 140th meet that ended Monday.
Investigators found that 77 of 88 trainers
interviewed were in violation of state Labor Law
by failing to keep proper wage and salary
records.
