"Clam"-Oring For Some Family Fun? Set Sail For The Festival
By The Sea
Ride the wave of fun and excitement into beautiful Lido Beach Town
Park for the Town of Hempstead's Family Festival by the Sea on
Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14 from 11 a.m. to 6:30
p.m. Supervisor Kate Murray invites mariners and landlubbers alike to
enjoy the concert bands, delicious food, craft and novelty vendors,
sand sculptures and array of games and contests.
You can also satisfy your "appetite" for fun by getting a "taste" of
the Clam Eating and Clam Chowder Contests on Saturday at 1 p.m. Kids
can sample the festival's youthful flavor by enjoying the puppet
shows, circus clowns, pony rides and petting zoo. This year's festival
will also unveil some of the biggest and bounciest inflatable ever
frolicked upon.
Guests can also stroll the boardwalk to water's edge to "dig" the sand
castle contest or "race" into Sunday's Biathlon. KJOY's popular
morning team "Jim & Kim" will be on hand Saturday to meet their fans
and spin the station's wheel of prizes. On-air personalities from WHLI
and B103 will join the fun throughout the weekend.
"With our beautiful Lido Beach Park as a picture perfect setting, the
Family Festival celebrates our township's storied nautical heritage,"
stated Supervisor Kate Murray. "Considered one of Long Island's
signature late summer attractions, the festival offers an
action-packed afternoon of family fun."
Alure Home Improvements returns as the festival sponsor with
support from Atlantic Nursery. Peter's Clam House and Fiore Brothers
Fish Market will provide the clams for the clam contests and Freeport
restaurants Blue 42 and Landshark will provide the contest prizes.
