Civic Meeting Review
Our October 18th meeting was a very informative
and productive meeting and we thank all the
members in attendance. Additionally, we welcome
all our new and returning members. Mrs. Jakab,
made the membership aware that Mr. Mirza was the
only person who called saying that he will
attend, and thank him for coming despite his
other obligations.

selected to receive September’s “Good Citizen of
the Month” awards.

Elmont Dads' Service Club Holding Annual
Thanksgiving Food Drive
The drive is being held November 1-17. Boxes,
cans or bags of imperishable food can be
delivered to any of the Elmont elementary
schools during regular school hours.

Showcase Festival
Along with the final weekend of its fall
thoroughbred racing season, Belmont Park in
nearby Elmont will host its annual ode to the
Empire State, the New York Showcase Fall
Festival, on the penultimate weekend of October.
Gates open both days at 11 a.m. and post-time
for the first race is 1 p.m.

Flu Immunization Program for Town Seniors
Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray has
announced that the town, in cooperation with
Nassau University Medical Center, will be
providing flu immunizations for resident
seniors, age 60 or older, at various senior

Murray and Clavin Unveil Ez-Pay
Although Hempstead Town officials have no
control over the school taxes bills that
property owners have just received, Supervisor
Kate Murray and Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin
have come up with a more convenient way for
residents to deal with the tax payment chore,
unveiling Long Island’s first “drive-thru”
payment office.

At the October 2 Hempstead Town board meeting,
Supervisor Kate Murray and members of the town
board approved a measure that allows more senior
citizens to participate in the Senior Citizen
Tax Exemption Program.
