ToH Pet Adoption Program
"Home for the Holidays" Pet Adoption Program
Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray recently announced the “Home for
the Holidays” pet adoption program, which provides for the waiving of
adoption and rabies shot fees from November 14, 2007 through January 15,
2008 for dogs and cats adopted from Hempstead Town’s Animal Shelter.
“By rescinding these fees, we are making the pet owning experience more
affordable,” said the Supervisor. “Those who adopt a dog or cat will
save up to $40.” Pioneers for Animal Welfare (PAWS) is also offering
free spaying and neutering services to any pet adopted from the shelter
during the program. This service offers those who adopt pets an
additional savings of up to $85.
Last year, 248 dogs and cats were adopted from the animal shelter
during the program, more than double than previous years when the
program was not in existence.
In addition to the elimination of the adoption and rabies shot fees,
proud pet adopters will receive a free gift provided by Animal Appetites
of Wantagh.
Supervisor Murray will be featured on KJOY 98.3 FM Wednesday mornings
