November 15 Meeting Announcement
Date:
Thursday, November 15, 2007
Time: 7:30 PM
Place: The New Elmont Memorial Public Library
Guest Speaker: Representative from Department of
Sanitation, District 6
As a member of our community, the civic needs you to
attend our next meeting! The meeting will be on: Thursday, November
15, 2007 at 7:30 P.M. at the Elmont Public Library. Circle or mark
this date on your calendar!
We all have important values and ideas, things we
care about and want to share. Sometimes we feel our ideas can even
change the world. Making people aware of your ideas, your problems or
concerns make the task of finding solutions easier. We all know that
nothing can be absolutely perfect. However, working together we can
try our best to make Elmont the best place for anyone to live.
We had a wonderful October meeting, that was
insightful and communicative. We even had one candidate running for
office stopping by. As moved and passed unanimously, a representative
from the Department of Sanitation, District Six, has been invited, and
their attendance is confirmed for our next meeting. We ask our members
and neighbors, to come to the meeting with their issues and
suggestions to make Elmont a cleaner and more beautiful community.
This will be an excellent opportunity to dialogue directly with
sanitation.
There are two major holidays that we celebrated
during the month of November. On November 11th, we take the time to
celebrate Veterans Day. We thank the living veterans for their
service, to acknowledge that their contributions to United States
national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all
those who served - not only those who died - have sacrificed and done
their duty. We thank them for protecting our liberties and bringing a
sense of honor in being Americans.
The civic also would like to wish everyone a happy,
healthy and joyful Thanksgiving. There are many things in which we
should be grateful for such as our family, friends and health.
Thanksgiving is also a time to remember those less fortunate than us.
Participate in food drives, such as the one being administrated by the
Elmont Dads’ Club and delivery cans or imperishable food to any of the
Elmont elementary schools during regular school hours. We must take
the time and effort to try to reach out and help those in need.
Come on down on the 15th at 7:30 P.M. sharp at the
Elmont Public Library and be a proactive component of our community.
Feel free to bring your family, neighbors and friends. It is always
great to see new and old faces of our great and wonderful community.
We’re looking forward in seeing you there.
Do not forget to pay your civic membership dues!
