MATH STARS SHINE AT
GOTHAM AVENUE
Fourteen third- and fourth-grade students at Gotham Avenue
Elementary School have been named Outstanding Math Students for their
ability to apply mathematics to real-world situations. Students were
selected based on their talent for solving problems that blend
mathematics and technology; a skill that is growing ever more valuable
in a world that is constantly changing and embracing new scientific
advancements. Preparing students for a bright future is an integral
part of the district’s mission, and recognizing its shining stars is
one of the ways the district aims to increase student achievement.
February’s Outstanding Intermediate Math Award recipients are Veeren
Armogan, Christian Butron, Clay Carbon, Varnel Fleurisma, Almas
Hussain, Danielle George, Gopan Kumar, Jonathan Montano, Sheila Nieto,
Jesus Reyes, Kristan Singh, Zainab Soetan, Malcolm Walker and Stephan
Walker.
The mission of the Elmont Union Free School District is to
“reach and teach for excellence,” which means continually improving
instruction and increasing student achievement. Dedication to this
goal is what has earned Elmont New York state recognition for its
“High Performing/Gap Closing Schools,” and as a state “model for
school success.” In partnership with the community, the district holds
its students to the highest standards |
