TEN GOTHAM AVENUE STUDENTS NAMED
ACADEMIC ACHIEVERS FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER Ten
of the youngest students at the Gotham Avenue School in Elmont were
recognized as Academic Achievers for the month of September.
“Children who experience their first taste of school
have to make a big adjustment,” said Barbara Pignataro, Gotham Avenue
assistant to the principal. “We are so proud of these students who
went from timid and shy the first days of school to confident and able
learners – they are our academic achievers!”
Pre-kindergartners, Natalie Anyanwu and Ayden Rivera, along with eight
kindergartners Alford Carbon, Kristen Cherfilus, Maxaline Delorme,
Jordan Lugg, Justin Lugg, Bradley Vendryes, Jennifer Ventura-Rocha and
Courtinee Walker, were given certificates and personal congratulations
from Pignataro. The mission of the Elmont Union Free
School District is to “reach and teach for excellence,” which means
continually improving instruction and increasing student achievement.
Dedication to this goal is what has earned Elmont New York State
recognition for its “High Performing/Gap Closing Schools,” and as a
state “model for school success.” In partnership with the community,
the district holds its students to the highest standards while
maintaining one of the lowest per-pupil expenditures in Nassau County. |
