GOTHAM AVENUE SCHOOL WELCOMES CLASS PARENTS AT ANNUAL TEA
GOTHAM AVENUE SCHOOL WELCOMES
CLASS PARENTS AT ANNUAL TEA
Elmont, Oct. 8, 2008
– Gotham Avenue School’s PTA welcomed this year’s class parents at
the school’s annual afternoon tea. Each year the school and PTA work
hand in hand to involve parents in school activities – the class
parent is an integral part of that process.
“Gotham
takes great pride in bridging the gap between home and school on a
daily basis,” said Dennis Cowan. “This is just one small example of
the cooperation between our school and the PTA.”
The school
is delighted to have 34 class parents this year. They volunteer their
time and will be on hand for PTA events, class trips and school
celebrations. The class parent also helps spread the word about
important issues to other parents and teachers really appreciate their
help.
The mission
of the Elmont Union Free School District is to “reach and teach for
excellence,” which means continually improving instruction and
increasing student achievement. Dedication to this goal is what has
earned Elmont New York state recognition for its “High Performing/Gap
Closing Schools,” and as a state “model for
school success.” In
partnership with the community, the district holds its students to the
highest standards while maintaining one of the lowest per-pupil
expenditures in Nassau County.
