TOWN HALL TO HOST “EASEL” ART EXHIBIT
Hempstead Town’s EASEL program (Experienced Art Students Enrichment
League) will present an art exhibition at Hempstead Town Hall May 5
through May 29, announced Supervisor Kate Murray.
“Hempstead Town Hall is proud to host this wonderful exhibit, which
was created by EASEL program participants. The collection of drawings
and paintings reflects the participants’ years of personal experience
and vision. I encourage all art enthusiasts to visit Hempstead Town
Hall in May to view this display,” said Supervisor Murray.
All are welcome to attend a “Meet the Artists” reception on
Tuesday, May 6 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. in Hempstead Town Hall lobby.
“EASEL is a daytime art league administered by the Town of
Hempstead’s Department of Senior Enrichment, geared to those
individuals who have had previous experience in the field of art,
painting or graphics. There is no membership fee to join the town
program, which is open to Hempstead Town residents ages 60 and older,”
stated Councilman Gary Hudes.
Some of the EASEL program’s benefits include demonstrations, an
opportunity to work in one’s medium, as well as participation in
discussions and museum trips. New members are always welcome to join.
Meetings take place each Tuesday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. at the
Oceanside Senior Center, located at 2900 Rockaway Avenue in Oceanside.
“Senior residents who enjoy creating works of art are encouraged to
join the league and take advantage of the opportunity to practice
their craft weekly in EASEL’s creative, relaxed atmosphere,” concluded
Murray.
