September National Prepardness Month 2008

Are you prepared?

National Preparedness Month is a nationwide effort held each September to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and schools.

Knowing how to respond to any disaster that could occur in your area - hurricanes, earthquakes, extreme cold, flooding, or terrorism, is an important part of being prepared and may make all the difference when seconds count.

Each disaster has lasting effects, both to people and property. If a disaster occurs in your community, local government and disaster-relief organizations will try to help you, but you need to be ready as well. Local responders may not be able to reach you immediately, or they may need to focus their efforts elsewhere.

We hope you will use the following attachments and websites to help you learn more about how to protect yourself and your family in the event of a disaster. Feel free to share this information with all who may benefit from it.
