June 19 Meeting Announcement

Attention Civic Members

The civic invites all our members, neighbors and friends to our last meeting of this season on Thursday, June 19, 2008. We had a very intense year, and perhaps it would be a perfect opportunity to recollect our thoughts and to set up new goals for next year starting in September. In addition, we would be discussing the reorganization process for next season. As this is the last meeting before the summer vacation, discussion will be in a round table format.

This year’s Memorial Day Parade, the Elmont Community should be proud with the attendance of people marching and the people on the sidelines watching. The Civics’ banner was at the parade marched by only two active members and two students from the high schools. It shows how and who in this community cares about our Veterans and fallen heroes; the men and women who help protect this nation and bring freedom and democracy across the globe. Unfortunately, many have taken this day for granted, as just a holiday. However, we must remember its true intention as being a day of observation and respect to our protective and arm services.
