Dr. Palandra Presenting our Members Issues Regarding the Elmont U.F.S.D.

 
Dr. Palandra discussed and answered questions pertaining to the upcoming School Budget Vote and issues regarding student population and illegal activites some homeowners are doing to get students into our district.
Dr. Palandra also mentioned that the Elmont U.F.S.D. has the lowest per pupil cost in Nassau County, despite having an excellent quality of education. Gotham Avenue was mentioned of winning the Pathfinder award.
Dr. Palandra also metioned that some homeowners in the community are selling their addresses for children to be admitted as students in the school district. Dr. Palandra made aware to the members that the School District is follwing up on it, and will take actions upon receiving concrete proof of these illegal activites and take the home-owners to court.
Dr. Palandra also mentioned about the high level of scrutiny done in mainting a excellence in teachers. Dr. Palandra made aware to the members, that teachers who fail to reach satisfactory standards within 2 years will be facing salary step freezes. Teachers also may be reassigned to different grades or schools in order for their teaching to improve or to be adjusted.
The members were very grateful for Dr. Palandra's time in coming to the meeting to discuss the important issues facing our school.
With rate adjustments and state aid decreases, the District will be hard felt.
Dr. Palandra urges all the members of the community to continue the support of our schools that gives above average services and programs. To do so, for the children, and the future of Elmont.
