Nassau County Legislator John Ciotti

Pledge: 7:40 P.M.
 
Ruth Jakab explain about the invitation of Legislature John Ciotti, appreciating that he made the time to come even that he wasn't initially invited. It was an error printed in the Elmont Herald.
 
Legislature Ciotti discussed about:
Issues regarding the Nassau County Emergency System. A commission of 5 individuals to interact with the Police, Fire and Emergency systems was presented. Members brought up concerns over the quality of life issues with the Police as their presence isn't being felt and more so with budget cuts including the elimination of the P.O.P. from the County Budget.
 
Pertaining to the issue of the Cell Phone Tower, an idea was presented to sue the Board of Zoning for violation of Zoning Laws by the Tower Placement due to property value depreciation of this unsightly object.
 
Issues regarding the Civic then commenced:
Members approved to the name change of the nomination for American Legion from the Locustwood / Gotham Civic Association (LoGoA)  to Matt Schelchter.
 
Ruth Jakab relayed the information on the last C.C.C. meeting about the A.T.S. property. That there are possibilities that Library / Post Office location are being discussed.
 
Motion for the Civic to be a member of the C.C.C., with the cost of $35 dollars a year for membership dues. Steve Gullo motioned, and Rita Lange seconded.
Majority of members present voted yes. Motion approved.
Mr. Marcillin suggested to use this year as a trial for next year.
Helen Odon and Helen Strohm were designated delegated to the C.C.C. with Steve Gullo as alternate delegate.
 
Board Nomination:
George Melnicky motioned Ruth Jakab for President. Jene Lewis seconded. Voted unanimously.
 
Rita Lange motioned Steve Gullo for Vice President. Mr. Gullo made aware that he is a new member and doesn't have much experience. Ruth Jakab then seconded.
Ruth Jakab then asked Mr. Marcillin, if he was interested, but he refused due to medical reasons.
Voted unanimously.
 
Steve Gullo motioned Jean Lewis as corresponding secretary. Seconded by Ruth Jakab. Voted unanimously.
 
Jean Lewis motioned George Melnicky as Treasurer. Seconded by Mr. Marcillin. Voted by majority.
 
Ruth Jakab motioned Isabel Rodriguez as Recording Secretary. Seconded by Mr. Mr Marcillin. Voted unanimously.
 
Other Issues:
Next meeting speaker was announced as Mrs. Doreson (President of the Elmont U.F.S.D. School Board) and Dr. Maria Palandra (Superintendent of Schools, Elmont U.F.S.D.)
 
Motion for Web Site was approved.
LogoA.org was designated as the Civic's web page.
 
50/50 Results: 
Ms. Rodriguez won $4.00 dollars.
Civic gained $4.00.
Ms. Rodriguez donated $4.00 to the civic.
Civic net gain was for $8.00 in the 50/50.
