Assemblyman Tom Alfano announced today that he has been successful in getting NYU's College of Dentistry to sponsor with him a free dental clinic for childre in his Assembly district. Alfano was able to get the free clinic to come to his Assembly district after meeting with the Dental School in Albany as part of a series of health initiatives he is attaining for the 21st Assembly District.
"This is a very exciting program for our community," said Assemblyman Alfo adding "I'm so pleased that NYU college of Dentistry is woking with me to make this special service acailable for our children."
Dr. Maria Palandra, Supt. of the Elmont Union Free School District said "I'm really pleased that Gotham Avenue School has been chosen by NYU and Assemblyman Alfano for this clinic. I look forward to seeing this program make a difference for our children."
The dental clinic is a first for Nassau County. The comprehensive dental service will provide diagnostic, preventative and restorative treatmeans such as:
* X-Rays
* Study Models
* Fluoride Treatmens
* Sealants
* Fillings
* Minor Tooth Extractions
* Tooth Brushing Clinic
All children are eligible to participate in this program, regardless of their financial status. "You don't need health insurance and the service is free," said Assemblyman Alfo concluding "everybody should take advantage of this opportunity."
