The latest example of  Elmont humanitarianism is at the Gotham Avenue School, where the Student Council raised funds to help orphans and other vulnerable children in Kenya. The Council raised $250 for the Caroline Wambui Mungai Foundation (CWMF) through a yearend bake sale. CWMF is working to turn a three-acre estate in Nairobi into a four-facility residence for 160 children in need.

"Your financial and moral support is helping us reach our goal," CWMF President Dr. Georges Mungai told the members of the Gotham Student Council, in a letter thanking them for their efforts. He further praised the youngsters for doing their part to "provide children with the H.E.L.P. (Healthy Economic Literate Potential) they need to succeed in life.
