Shots fired

Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a report of shots fired on March 19 at 10:55 p.m. in Elmont.

Police say someone fired two shots from an unknown weapon outside of a Kelly Court address and fled.

 

Assault

Police report that 35-year-old Hugo Rojas of Elmont was arrested hours after beating a male victim with an electrical cord at his Hempstead turnpike home. The assault occurred at 3:30 a.m. on March 19.

Rojas was arrested at his home by Officers Frank Leckler and Richard Muller at 4:15 that afternoon. He was charged with second degree assault and arraigned on March 20. The victim refused medical attention.

 

Burglaries

Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred on Oakley Avenue in Elmont on March18 at 4:15 p.m.

Police say a white male posing as a water repairman knocked on a door of home belonging to an 88-year old woman. She answered the door and let him in. While he distracted the victim, a second subject entered the house and stole jewelry and cash. Both suspects then fled the home just as the victim had figured out what was going on. Residents are urged to watch out for this scam, ask for credentials before ever letting anyone in or simply refusing entry to anyone when they are alone.

Police say four black males in their 20’s wearing black jackets and driving an older model white four door car attempted to rob a Wellington Avenue home at 1 p.m. on March 15. No losses reported in the attempt.

Police say a Demille Street, Elmont, home was entered through a broken rear window between 7:40 a.m. and 4 p.m. on March 17. Jewelry was reported missing.

Police say a Joan Court, Elmont home was entered through a rear window between 10:30 am. and 11:20 am. on March 18. Jewelry was reported missing.

Police say an Emphoria Avenue, Elmont, home, was entered through a rear window between 9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on March 18. Jewelry and a Playstation were reported missing.

 

Grand Larceny

Police have arrested three Brooklyn men in connection with a grand larceny in Elmont at 2:05 p.m. on April 1.

Police say Francios Adams, Jerry Loius and Garry Zanior were seen by residents along Sussex Road breaking into mailboxes and stealing mail Witnesses called the police and Officers Greg Arena and Frank Discala stopped the three as they drove southbound on Dutch Broadway. They were each charged with three counts of fourth degree grand larceny
